The Perfidious Albion 2023

The Ride in Photos

15/07/2023 – 1,615km – 24,000m – 5 finishers

The Perfidious Albion 2023

After two previous editions that were defined by scorching heatwaves, TPA23 bucked the trend and riders were treated to high winds and persistent rain for the first few days. Fortunately, the introduction of a halfway checkpoint for the first time gave them something to aim for. And the woodburning stove proved surprisingly popular despite it being mid-July!

This edition also saw the Welsh section of the route change significantly, adding new climbs and a touch more gravel. This included adding the Cregennan Lakes climb, with its stunning views over the Barmouth Estuary and towards the peaks of Snowdonia.

Despite only five finishers, the field was rarely spread out, with the lead changing several times in the last 36 hours. Eventually, it was Patrick Cope who rolled over the line first, putting to good use his years of experience riding Audaxes.

Follow their ride through the photos below.
